Week of 3/9 - 3/13
This week in general was another typical week at NewTv, but with a couple of new things mixed in. Throughout the week we had several shoots in which I controlled the audio except for one. For one of these shoots Mike already had another member doing audio so he had me do something that was completely new to me. Mike wanted me to control one of the cameras in the studio during the shoot. The guest speaker was going to be drawing several pictures and Mike wanted me to use the camera I was controlling to get close ups on the drawings as well as other different and unique shots. Not only was this a new experience for me, it also allowed me to learn about all the different controls on the camera and what they do. This week I also became more comfortable with the Canon 5d( a digital camera as well as a video camera does both. Mike let me use this camera to take pictures of the control room as well as the studio because I wanted to use some of them to put on my website. While I was taking these pictures I learned how to adjust the iris on the camera which allows more or less light into the lens, as well as the shutter speed which is how long the shutter takes to cycle and take a picture. For the rest of the week we were doing all of the typical things we usually do at NewTv, setting up and recording shoots, controlling the different equipment in the control room, and working on our own projects.
